Our Impact

Stories

Caroline Lanctot, our bright, loving, fearless child was permanently injured in 2003 in a car accident when she was only 10 months old leaving her paralyzed from the neck down. Our family knows firsthand how devastating and overwhelming it can be to process what has happened. Sitting in those hospital rooms the first days, weeks, months... wondering how you can possibly move forward from this. One day at a time is how it’s done. Don’t think about all the plans in your life that now seem crushed and just get to the end of each day. Lean on your family and friends and know things will come together over time. You’re not alone. Caroline’s Hope looks to help these families with financial assistance so they can focus on what’s important. Caroline's Hope also stands as a symbol of how you will move on and not only survive but flourish with new memories and milestones. One day at a time!

Dennis Crawford

Dennis who had been a truck driver for over 20 years had a devastating, life-altering accident. He was delivering on a gas truck that day along Windy Bush Road in Newtown when his truck slipped off the road and rolled. Dennis suffered a C5 Spinal cord injury leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. Dennis was the sole provider to his wife and three children so the impact of this was beyond imaginable. Dennis spent close to 9 months in the hospital and Magee Rehab before he could come home and start putting the pieces of his new normal together as a husband and father living with a spinal cord injury. We were honored to provide some much-needed financial assistance so his family could focus on Dennis’ recovery.

Mia Andrilla

In August of 2021, Mia, a 19-year-old from South Philadelphia, was just beginning her morning on August 11 when she felt her arm go numb. This numbness rapidly progressed to full paralysis from the shoulders down. Mia had suffered a spinal stroke, an extremely rare and serious medical emergency, affecting her C2-C4 cervical vertebrae. Unable to move her arms and legs, Mia’s life has been drastically altered in an instant. Mia, a typical teenager, was set to begin her second year of college at Temple University. She had been enjoying her summer, taking Jersey shore trips, working out at the gym with her mom, catching up on Netflix, and hanging out with her friends when the unimaginable happened. Mia, her parents, and two brothers are facing a long and difficult road with this devastating diagnosis.

Stephanie Cody

In April of 2021, an accident left Stephanie in a wheelchair as a Tetraplegic and her life changed forever.  As you can imagine, the financial burden to her and her mother, Bonnie, to modify their home and lives to meet her needs was overwhelming to say the least.  One of Caroline's previous nurses that we keep in contact with over the years is a friend of their family and reached out to us.  We're so happy we were able to provide some financial relief in their time of need.

"I just wanted to say I love everything you guys do, it’s truly amazing. I am 6 months, paralyzed from the chest down, and the way things happened for me are just awful. I would love to build something like this, I need to advocate for others!! ( I’m a friend of Michelle’s ). Keep doin This!!! So awesome 🤍🤍❤️"  Stephanie 10/15/2021

Caitlyn Shores

On December 20th, 2007 6-year-old, Caitlyn Shores, was in a car accident that left her paralyzed from the chest down.  Caroline's Mother Jodi reached out to her parent's on Facebook to see how Caitlyn and their family was holding up.  Like most families dealing with a spinal cord injury, they adapted and relied on each other to stay strong and make the best of things but there's always a struggle keeping up

Luke Tynan

On July 3rd of 2018 Luke's Parents received a phone call that all parents fear, "Your son has been injured."  During a seemingly innocent game with friends, Luke lost his balance and fell from a pier into the Choptank River in Cambridge, MD.  Although the distance of the fall wasn't far, Luke shattered his C5 Vertebrae and factured both his C4 and C6 vertebrae resulting in a spinal cord injury which paralyzed Luke from the mid-chest down.

Jaden Leiby

North Schuylkill High School senior, Jaden Leiby continues to recover from a broken neck he suffered on the football field last fall.   Leiby, a quarterback who also played cornerback, suffered a broken neck while making a tackle during a home game in October of 2019. The high school senior was flown to the hospital.  Jaden has a long road to recovery ahead of him with extensive physical and occupational therapy at Magee Rehabilitation and then adapting to home life.  We know what a challenge that can be on everyone and are so happy we could contribute to his journey.

Ryan Law

On July 28, while attending a friend's birthday party, Ryan suffered a severe spinal cord injury leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. This injury has caused paralysis to most of his body. However, in true Law Dog style, he has been working day and night to gain strength, stamina, and more mobility.

Ryan underwent surgeries and rehabilitation at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia and there were many medical  and household expense incurred that impacted his family while he was out of work.
